Mazzy Star Announce First Album in 17 Years
The dreamy West Coast-folk outfit Mazzy Star released the new single “California” today, and they announced that they’ll release a new LP, Seasons of Your Day, on September 24th.
“California” was preceded by a 2011 single, “Common Burn” b/w “Lay Myself Down”: Seasons of Your Day will include all three of those tracks, and it marks the bands first official LP in 17 years, following 1996’s Among My Swan.
Coachella 2012 Behind the Scenes: Mazzy Star
Recorded in Norway and California by the original Mazzy Star line-up, Seasons was co-written and -produced by singer Hope Sandoval and guitarist Dave Roback. The upcoming LP, as Pitchfork points out, also features contributions from the late Scotish folk musician Bert Jansch and My Bloody Valentine’s Colm Ó Cíosóig.
An official video for “California” is expected to see release in August, while the band will announce dates for a fall tour in both North America and Europe soon.
