Justin Timberlake, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Lead MTV VMA Nominations
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lead the pack for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, landing six nominations each. The 30th annual awards show will air live on August 25th from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The coveted Video of the Year award nominees were unveiled on the network’s Instagram and Vine accounts – the first time nominees for an award show have been announced on social media. They are Justin Timberlake‘s “Mirrors,“ Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘ “Thrift Shop,“ Bruno Mars‘ “Locked Out of Heaven,“ Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines“ featuring T.I. and Pharrell and Taylor Swift‘s “I Knew You Were Trouble.“

Timberlake‘s other nominations include Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing for “Mirrors,“ while his “Suit and Tie” featuring Jay-Z scored nods for Best Collaboration and Best Direction. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘ nominations include Video of the Year for “Thrift Shop” and Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing for “Can‘t Hold Us” featuring Ray Dalton. The pair’s “Same Love“ also received a nod for Best Video with a Social Message.
Other nominees include Pink, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Miley Cyrus with three nominations each.
This year also sees the renaming of the Best New Artist trophy to the Artist to Watch award. Nominees are Twenty One Pilots for “Holding on to You,“ Zedd featuring Foxes for “Clarity,” Austin Mahone for “What About Love,“ the Weeknd for “Wicked Games“ and Iggy Azalea for “Work.“
