Snoop Lion Warns, ‘No Guns Allowed’ on ‘Letterman’
Snoop Lion was an inviting presence last night the Late Show With David Letterman, literally: “When we get to the hook, if it makes you feel like we feel, sing along,” he told the studio audience at the start of “No Guns Allowed.” Standing amid what looked like a ground fog onstage, the rapper-turned-Rasta sang in a soft voice, supported by a quartet of backing singers, as he decried the cultural influence of guns and money, and called for peaceful interactions.

Letterman at the end noticed that Snoop hadn’t completely shed his rap persona, pointing to the singer’s enormous bejeweled hand accessory that read “Snoop Dogg.” “You’ve gotta update your equipment,” Letterman cracked, and Snoop smiled. “No Guns Allowed” comes from Snoop’s new reggae album Reincarnated.
