Wheeler Brothers Reflect on Younger Selves in ‘My Time’ – Premiere
The Wheeler Brothers know growing up isn’t easy, and in their new video for “My Time,” the folk-rockers look back on their past selves and play a game of baseball against a group of suspiciously familiar kids. The Austin band lines up against the competition behind sunny guitar strums and teetering lap steel, and goes to work crushing the children in a ball game. But these kids aren’t so easily bested, and they band together for a triumphant underdog victory.

“‘My Time’ was largely written on the road in promotion of our first album, Portraits. It’s about being where we are now compared with our younger selves – living on the road away from home, ‘our career,’ or at least about making it happen,” frontman Nolan Wheeler tells Rolling Stone. “The concept for this video is really about examining the relationship we have with our childhoods. We may dismiss our younger selves as cute or naive, but in the end, our childhoods are far more important to who we become as adults.”
“My Time” is on the Wheeler Brothers’ latest album, Gold Boots Glitter, out now on Bismeaux Records. The band is also on a North American tour. For full tour dates, visit the Wheeler Brothers’ website.
