Pink Fan Arrested After ‘Bomb’ Tweet
Last night during Pink‘s concert at Melbourne, Australia’s Rod Laver Arena, a teenage fan was arrested after tweeting about having a “bomb.” “@Pink I’m ready with my Bomb,” the 16-year-old Tweeted as the pop singer took the stage. “Time to blowup #RodLaverArena Bitch.”
Rod Laver Arena staff reportedly recognized the boy from his Twitter profile picture. He was ejected from the arena and arrested by local police. Though he’s been released, he is currently awaiting charges. He’s also since deleted the damning tweet.
Today, the boy faced the media personally, explaining that the “bomb” in question was a reference to Pink’s “Timebomb,” a bonus track from last year’s The Truth About Love. “It was meant to be about drop the effects, the music, everything,” he said, “just drop it all.”
The boy’s sister has defended her brother in an interview with the Herald Sun. “We had to go there at midnight to sort it out, and we thought we had to bail him; we thought he’d been killed; we didn’t know what to think,” she said. “He wrote it as in one of her songs is called ‘Timebomb,’ and he forgot to put the ‘Time’ on there.”
Pink’s Australian tour has been hugely successful and record-breaking. The Melbourne venue (which seats 15,000) is hosting 18 straight Pink shows through July and August.
