Watch Iggy Azalea Unveil ‘Beg for It’ in ‘SNL’ Debut
After taking a week off, Saturday Night Live returned October 25th with a Halloween-themed episode hosted by Jim Carrey and featuring musical guest Iggy Azalea. For her debut SNL appearance, the Australian rapper managed to cram her two biggest hits so far into one performance. The medley opened up with a Charli XCX-less “Fancy” before it segued into “Black Widow” with Rita Ora. Perhaps keeping with the Halloween theme, Azalea’s performance is the most theatrical SNL musical guest spot in recent memory, with the Australian rapper turning Studio 8H first into a high school hangout and then a smoky dance floor.
For her second performance, Azalea unveiled her brand new single “Beg for It,” taken from the rapper’s upcoming The New Classic reissue Reclassified. Like “Fancy,” the song’s catchy hook was penned by Charli XCX, but this time around, singing duties on the chorus went to Danish artist MØ, who joined Azalea on SNL for “Beg for It.”
In addition to her two performances, Azalea made a cameo during the Halloween Party sketch, with the rapper, guest host Carrey and cast member Kate McKinnon all dressing up like the young dancer in Sia’s “Chandelier” music video.
But the real musical highlight of Saturday Night Live‘s Halloween-themed episode goes to “Graveyard Song,” a sketch starring Carrey and Taran Killam as Paul and Phil, a pair of “nice casual ghosts that are just sort of always around.”
On the next Saturday Night Live, the show will welcome back former cast member Chris Rock as well as musical guest Prince.
