Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz in Talks with Noah Baumbach Film
Beastie Boy Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz is in talks to join the cast alongside Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts in While We’re Young, an upcoming film from Noah Baumbach, The Wrap reports. A representative in Horovitz’s camp had no further details to share.
In While We’re Young, Stiller and Watts play a married couple that begin a friendship with a younger, free-spirited couple portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Girls‘ Adam Driver. According to sources, Horovitz would be a foil to Stiller and Watts’, playing a married man and new father who can’t understand why the two feel the need to befriend the younger generation.
100 Greatest Artists: Beastie Boys
Horovitz’s acting debut came in 1985 with a small part in an episode of the crime series The Equalizer; he then appeared as a troubled youngster alongside Donald Sutherland in the 1989 drama Lost Angels. He’s appeared in a handful of films and shorts since (a good chunk of them Beastie Boys-related), and his While We’re Young role would mark his largest in about 20 years.
While We’re Young is scheduled to begin production in the fall. And fun facts: Horovitz scored music for The Ben Stiller Show back in 1992, and you can see Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor rocking out to the Beastie Boys in the 2006 concert documentary, Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That!
