Ex-Black Flag Members’ Secret Moose Lodge Show
"Fix me, fix my head/Fix me please, I don't want to be dead," Keith Morris screamed while poking at his own head.
-
Intensity
Morris points at drummer Bill Stevenson. Through the 20-song set list, the band never let the intensity settle.
-
Filling In
Stephen Egerton of the Descendents and All was the only non-former-Black Flag member performing. Taking on the duties of the obviously absent Greg Ginn, he left little to be missed.
-
Full Lineup
The full Flag lineup from left to right: Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski, Bill Stevenson, Keith Morris and Stephen Egerton.
-
Healthy
Morris showed no sign of letting up, despite spending multiple days recently in a diabetic coma.
-
Ripping Through
Stevenson, Egerton and Morris ripping through the impressive set list. Note the photos of the Moose Lodge members on the wall – the band was crammed into a corner, no stage.
-
Teenage
For 20 songs, everyone was transported to their teenage years. Not a still body in the room.
-
Fix Me
Morris, Dukowski and Cadena kicked off the set with "Revenge," immediately followed by "Fix Me."
-
Moosehead
"Don't do anything stupid like I did the first time I ever came into this place," Morris told the crowd before starting the set. He was referring to the first show Black Flag played at the same venue in 1979, when he hung from a giant American flag.
-
They Were Wrong
At one point, Morris explained that he was told you are not supposed to have fun with this music. They were wrong, and the crowd proved it.
-
‘American Waste’
Dez Cadena took over vocal duties late in the set, covering "American Waste," "Thirsty and Miserable" and "Six Pack" before closing the set with "Louie, Louie."
-
‘Rise Above’
Keith Morris singing "Rise Above" originally sung by Henry Rollins) was a great treat. The intensity in the room was unmatched.
