Fall Music Preview: Justin Timberlake’s ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’
Timberlake describes his new disc as “an application of a rock & roll mentality to R&B, hip-hop, pop, dance, disco and stuff.” With Timbaland and Nate Hill, Timberlake wrote and produced a dozen fresh cuts – club bangers like “Love Stoned” and his current smash “SexyBack” and mellower tracks like “What Goes Around” and “My Love.” On the final cut, Timberlake changes direction with the Rick Rubin-produced buttery-soul tribute to Donny Hathaway, “Another Song.” “I never made a conscious effort to follow any particular style,” he says. “Good music is good music. That’s all I’m trying to do.”
