New Sigur Ros Album ‘Kveikur’ Streaming on Amazon
Though its release is still a week away, Sigur Rós’ new album Kveikur is now available to stream in full over at Amazon. The follow-up to last year’s Valtari, the new LP marks the Icelandic group’s first effort as a three-piece (multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson left last year) and first for XL Records.

On Kveikur‘s title track and opener “Brennisteinn,” Sigur Rós showcases a grittier, more aggressive sound; they further it on other tracks, including the clanging, horn-laden “Hrafntinna.” There’s certainly no shortage of their familiar swooning, swelling pop orchestration on “Stormur” and “Rafstraumur.”
Sigur Rós are currently on tour in Europe until the end of the summer; they have a sprawling North American trek behind Kveikur set for this fall.
