Nine Inch Nails and David Lynch Lurk in ‘Came Back Haunted’
Nine Inch Nails tapped David Lynch to direct the video for their new single “Came Back Haunted,” and the Twin Peaks co-creator put his startling, surreal touch on the dark clip. Flashing lights strobe furiously against a flittering image of a girl spliced with an insect. Lightning bolts crash from the sky, strange faces emerge and a shaking Trent Reznor appears like a specter in between bizarre images. The video never stays still, constantly switching images against an agitated Reznor with unsettling force. This isn’t the first time the duo have collaborated: Reznor produced the soundtrack for Lynch’s 1997 film Lost Highway.
