The Worst Movies of March
You know what they say about March: in like a lion, out with a giant bucket of scum. Peter Travers is back to run down the 10 worst movies that Hollywood has to offer, warning, “You need machinery to get this scum out of here.”
Starting off with Tyler Perry’s Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, which stars Kim Kardashian – need Travers say more? He certainly doesn’t think so, and it’s on to movies like The Host, an alien love story based on a book by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, and Admission, Tina Fey’s latest film that Travers points out would’ve made Liz Lemon puke. Rolling over crud like The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and The Croods, Travers makes his way to Number Two – “and that’s literally what it is,” he says – by way of Olympus Has Fallen, which finds Gerard Butler trying to save the president from North Korean terrorists by fighting his way through truly terrible, cheeseball special effects.
But the worst of the worst of the worst, which is also the year’s most successful movie so far? Oz: The Great and Powerful. “First of all, it is not great, it is not powerful,” moans Travers, adding, “It spoils the whole idea of The Wizard of Oz: it makes you never want to watch The Wizard of Oz again!”
