Aretha Franklin Clears June Schedule
Aretha Franklin is taking off the month of June after canceling a pair of performances last week due to health issues, The Associated Press reports.
Franklin, 71, pulled out of performances on May 20th in Chicago and May 26th at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, and a spokesperson for the singer says the two shows will be rescheduled and touring will resume in July.
Aretha Franklin Cancels Shows for ‘Medical Reasons’
Earlier this month, Franklin announced that the Chicago and Connecticut shows would be cancelled so she could undergo medical treatment, though she hasn’t said what treatment she’s seeking. The singer has cancelled performances for medical reasons in the past, including scrapping a 2010 tour to have surgery for an undisclosed health issue.
Franklin appeared on the season finale of American Idol last week by satellite and sang a medley of her hits with female finalists.
