100 Greatest Artists: Elton John
“Someone like Elton John has been an icon on our radio stations for years, and for him to the take the stage alongside people like Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry I think really speaks to what makes the festival unique,” said Tom Poleman, president of national programming platforms at Clear Channel.
Other scheduled performers include Muse, Tiësto, Chris Brown, Keith Urban, Ke$ha and Thirty Seconds to Mars. Additionally, Adam Lambert will perform alongside Queen for a special performance.
This year’s festival will also include a first-time Festival Village held at a 15-acre parking lot adjacent to the arena, and will feature performances from AWOLNATION, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne and Jason Derulo. Tickets for the Festival Village will be available for $20.
Last year’s event was sobering for fans and artists alike after Green Day’s Billy Joe Armstrong blasted the festival for allegedly cutting the band’s set short, and proceeded to destroy the band’s instruments while on stage. Armstrong checked into rehab the following day, and has since returned to the stage.
Tickets to this year’s festival go on sale this Saturday.
